Exploring Hanoi’s Culture, Cuisine and Fashion at the Autumn Festival

The Hanoi Autumn Festival 2023, themed “Hanoi Autumn-Come to Love,” commenced on the evening of September 29 at the pedestrian zone adjacent to Hoan Kiem Lake.

The festival, hosted by the Hanoi People’s Committee, will be held from September 29 to October 1. It guarantees an immersive celebration of Hanoi’s rich cultural heritage.

The Hanoi Autumn Carnival presents an enchanting display of street art exhibitions. Additionally, attendees can enjoy a culinary adventure through Vietnam’s diverse regions, accompanied by a variety of traditional and modern games.

During Autumn, visitors can explore a vast array of products and specialties from trade villages and various regions of the country in the Ly Thai To Flower Park. With 150 pavilions, situated along Dinh Tien Hoang, Le Thach, and Bat Giac House, this event offers an excellent opportunity to discover unique dishes, gifts, and products representing the vibrant city of Hanoi.

During the festival, a conference on the development of MICE and Golf Tourism will take place. Attendees will have the opportunity to witness captivating performances including dragon and lion dances by renowned artists from Thanh Oai District. Additionally, a procession of beautiful lanterns from Son Tay town and a captivating kite show by Dong Anh District will be featured. The flower arrangement from Me Linh District, puppet performance from My Duc District, and the art of processing and enjoying lotus tea will also be showcased.

During the festival, a variety of activities will be held, including the re-enactment of historical weddings, a captivating ao dai (traditional long robe) fashion show, engaging kid parade activities, a stimulating painting contest for children, and a lively parade showcasing cyclos, bicycles, and double-decker buses.

During the festival, the businesses will also be offering tours, air tickets, and travel services. A photo exhibition titled “Colours of Hanoi Autumn” will be featured, adding to the delight of visitors.

Participating in the event are ten districts of the capital city, as well as 14 provinces and cities from across the nation. Their presence is aimed at showcasing their diverse range of tourism packages, products, and exceptional heritage sites.

Embassies and diplomatic agencies representing Cuba, India, Laos, Cambodia, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Palestine will showcase a captivating array of images from various countries and cultures, providing festival attendees with a unique glimpse into diverse global communities.

At the inaugural ceremony, Vice Chairman Nguyen Manh Quyen of the Hanoi People’s Committee expressed that the Hanoi Autumn Festival 2023 is the inaugural event organized by the city’s authorities to celebrate the tourism, culture, heritage, and natural beauty of Hanoi.

The festival is expected to have a positive impact on the overall growth and enhancement of the capital city’s tourism sector, both in terms of quantity and quality.

“The city has strategically introduced a wide range of innovative tourism products under the renowned capital tourism brand, aiming to transform tourism into a significant driver of economic growth,” he stated.

The Hanoi Children’s Palace in Hanoi recently celebrated the opening of a new culinary exhibit featuring the theme “The Essence of Vietnamese Cuisine”. Located at 36 Ly Thai To Street, this space provides an introduction to the rich culinary traditions of Hanoi.

Experience a unique culinary journey at our event where guests can savor a delectable selection of both classic and modern delicacies while uncovering the captivating stories behind each dish.

Guests will have the opportunity to indulge in a gastronomic delight at our event, where they can explore a wide variety of dishes from 51 culinary stalls. Our talented culinary artists will also be on hand to share their expertise in crafting traditional fare, providing a unique insight into the significant role that cuisine plays in Vietnamese culture.

On the final day of the festival, which is October 1st, over 1,500 individuals are expected to take part in the carnival parade. Participants will include artisans from craft villages, art troupes, businesses, and residents of Hanoi. The standout feature of the parade will be the gong-performing team, comprised of over 100 members from the Muong ethnic group.

The lion-dragon dance is a captivating performance featuring over 600 participants from Thanh Oai District. The parade also showcases individuals dressed in traditional ao dai attire, as well as the inclusion of cyclos and puppeteers, collectively creating a vibrant and joyful ambiance.

According to Director Nguyen Anh Duong of the Hanoi Promotion Agency, the Hanoi Fall Festival serves as a platform to showcase the city’s beauty, cultural heritage, and tourism offerings. It aims to position Hanoi as a desirable, high-quality, and secure destination.

According to Duong, autumn is the most enchanting season in Hanoi, offering tourists optimal conditions to uncover renowned landmarks and savor the capital’s exceptional cuisine.
